    A Birthday Message
As you may know, December 31st is my birthday. With that, comes a new year after a night celebrating the Old Man's... wisdom. Yeah, that's it. That being said:

THE 7TH ANNUAL BIRTHDAY PARTY EXTRAVAGANZA FEST-A-RAMA-THON!!!
Wednesday, December 31st, 6:00 p.m. 'til the wee hours of the morning!
    Why? Because parties rock!

I can provide some games, food, and beverages, but if anyone else would like to bring anything, that'd be great! Birthday presents definitely NOT required, but still welcome! ;) If you'd like to bring guests, it's cool with me. After all, the more the merrier!

Hope to see everyone on New Years' Eve!

    3 Things
Post 3 things you've done in your lifetime that you don't think anybody else on your friends list has done. See if anybody else responds with "I've done that." Have your friends cut & paste this into their journal to see what unique things they've done in their life.

    1. In 1989, I wore a Chicago Cubs t-shirt every day of my summer vacation.

    2. In 1992, I shook Bill Clinton's hand.

    3. In 2003, I had a really short conversation with Bruce Campbell. AND I got his autograph.

    Yeah, this should be good...

If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a memory of you and me. It can be anything you want -- good or bad. When you're finished, post this little paragraph on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people remember about you.

    Earthquakes?
I made a mental note to myself this morning at 4:37 a.m. to check how powerful the earthquake was. USGS says 5.2. Then a second one hit at 10:15 a.m., which was a 4.6.

    Everybody's fine.

    Politics Test

    Your Score: Left Libertarian

You scored 82% Personal Liberty and 78% Economic Liberty!

A left libertarian believes in little to no government intervention on personal matters and little to moderate government intervention on economic matters. They generally believe in a government that is extremely small and limited to the extent of protecting people's liberty. They tend to be strongly opposed to war, police powers, victimless crimes, foreign intervention and what they consider to be a welfare state. They strongly support self-ownership and support property rights. They support capitalism as an economic system. Libertarian thought is individualist in nature.

    Orion died today. 1:20 p.m.

For those who don't know, Orion is my car.

More later, I'm very irritated. And slightly sad.

    More Goings-on
Eighth time is a charm, I guess. Tomorrow is my last day at the College of Science Advisement office. It's about damn time. I have been promoted and am going to the Rehabilitation Institute starting Wednesday. I have to say four years has been enough.

That is, if I don't die first.

I have had acute bronchitis for the past week, and even though the albuterol helped in the short term, I'm not sure it's helping in the long term. The hot and humid weather certainly isn't helping either. I have been drowning myself in orange juice, Vitamin C, and ibuprofen, fighting as best I can, but apparently to no avail. Those of you who know me know that it has to be pretty damn serious for me to get a physician's appointment, but I am going to the doctor in less than an hour, hoping to whatever power is out there that it's not something really serious like pneumonia or laryngitis.

I know it's been a while since I posted. So best wishes to all of you.

    Chicago
Chicago was fun. I went to the old house in Aurora for the first time in decades. It looks exactly the same as it did when I last saw it 20-some years ago, and so does the rest of the neighborhood. I had forgotten just how wide those streets are in that subdivision. Also went to Fox Valley Mall and Oberweis for shopping and ice cream. Then I went to Kenosha, WI for some teriyaki and hung out with Dave K., [info]sithbob, and [info]toreinne. Afterwards, we got coffee and chatted for a couple hours. Good to see you guys.

Now you have to come down here.

Visiting the house was like revisiting my early childhood. Everything still seemed so damned big. And names kept popping into my head like Jason, Stephanie, Leroy, Sally. We were all right around the same age and did the usual playing thing. I remember splashing around in Leroy's pool. Playing with piles of leaves in Sally's yard just across the street from mine. Collecting those Matchbox cars with Jason and playing in the sandbox. You know, that sort of thing that kids do. Then again, there was the time Jason convinced me to touch the hot exhaust pipe of a motorcycle. Yeah. I didn't talk to him much after that.

But I laugh about it now.
